About Us

Every important day, on both sides of the Atlantic.

NationalDaysGuide is a free guide to the days worth celebrating across the United States and the United Kingdom — federal holidays and bank holidays, national and international days, festivals, food days, and the traditions that make them special.

We started NationalDaysGuide with a simple frustration: holiday dates, histories, and celebration ideas were scattered across dozens of sites, and half of them mixed up US and UK dates. So we built one place that gets it right for both countries — with dates, history, traditions, wishes, and practical ideas for every day, all in one place.

What we cover

  • USA federal holidays — official days off, what’s open and closed, and how each one is observed.
  • UK bank holidays — every bank holiday across England & Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, with exact dates.
  • National & international days — the fun, food, and awareness days celebrated in one or both countries.
  • Countdowns & calendar — live countdowns to the next big celebrations so you never miss one.
  • Guides — gift ideas, wishes, quotes, messages, recipes, and celebration ideas for every occasion.

How we work

Every guide is researched from official sources — government holiday calendars, established observance registries, and reputable references. Dates are checked for the current year, and we update guides when dates shift (as bank holidays and observances often do).

We don’t invent traditions, fabricate statistics, or present guesswork as fact. If we’re unsure about something, we say so — or we leave it out until we can verify it.

Two countries, one calendar

The USA and the UK share a language but not a calendar. Thanksgiving, Bonfire Night, Veterans Day, Remembrance Sunday, Boxing Day — each country has days the other doesn’t, and even shared days like Christmas and Halloween are celebrated differently. NationalDaysGuide covers both, clearly labeled, so you always know which side of the Atlantic a day belongs to.
